The characters “Lễ trí” (Ritual/Propriety and Wisdom) are depicted, expressing the wish for the child to possess “lễ” (proper etiquette and manners) to interact respectfully with everyone and “trí” (wisdom and intelligence) to be skillful in the future. This painting is also known by another folk name, “Gái sắc bế rùa xanh” (Beautiful Girl Holding a Green Turtle), with the wish for a baby girl to grow up beautiful, gentle, kind, diligent, and capable like a turtle.
