Lacquer Painting ( PHÙ ĐỔNG THIÊN VƯƠNG )

Lacquer paintings are created using the sap of the sơn ta tree combined with mineral pigments and other materials such as gold leaf, silver leaf, mother-of-pearl, and seashells to produce a smooth, glossy coating on the wooden surface. These paintings are often painted on a wooden core (vóc) and then coated with layer upon layer of lacquer to create a beautiful glossy effect. The lacquer technique requires sophistication and skill from the artisans who execute it.
